“Beauty shopping at Matta’s is about informed choice and trust” says Dalip Matta

Natural Beauty Products

Demand for organic beauty is on the up in Liverpool and because we promised our customers that we would, we’ve invested in trusted, pioneering beauty companies with the same ethos as us.

I hope you’ll agree that as a smaller retailer, specialising in organic and natural beauty, we often have a more detailed understanding of the market compared to bigger stores in Liverpool.

If you’ve seen Matta’s beauty products and are about to switch for the first time, we promise that you can have confidence in our offer because we stock brands authorised by certification bodies.

Regardless of where you choose to shop, what’s the bottom line when choosing beauty products?

Well, as the market has grown increasingly lucrative so has the number of ‘organic’ brands taking advantage of convenient loopholes. There’s nothing to stop a product with one per cent organic aloe vera and 99 per cent something masquerading as organic, claiming its place on the ‘green beauty’ shelf. That’s where finding a Liverpool store you trust is essential.

As a general rule, if you are making a switch for the first time, stick to products awarded with legitimate kite marks from independent certification bodies: Soil Association, Ecocert, Cosmos, NaTrue or USDA.

Think Body First when you switch to organic for the first time too as it’s the largest surface area of skin so you can test the products to your satisfaction.

Matta’s products don’t carry parabens which are basically preservatives that mimic oestrogen in the body. They get absorbed and go straight into the blood stream…not a good idea!

Watch out for formaldehyde releasing preservatives – listed as 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,2-Diol, Diazolidonyl Urea, Imidazolidinyl Urea and Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate.

We also recommend avoiding ingredients with the prefix PEG, DEA and steer clear of anything with BHA or BHT…these are synthetic and are carcinogenic.

Of course, the key is to find a retailer who takes the hard work out of beauty shopping by making informed choices that ultimately put you first.
